Holy cow! This place is Fantastic! I was skeptical at first, but I am impressed. I ordered the enchiladas mexicanas and the pork sauce on top was soooo good. My dad ordered the chimichangas and the cheese sauce was the best ever. Could of licked both plates clean if I didn't get full. We both left stuffed and happy. Will come again!

We eat here at least twice a month. Everyone is nice & service is always good. I've had every vegetarian option on the menu & never been disappointed. My boyfriend loves their wings. As for the other reviews of bad food, service & getting heartburn. I'm very confused, yes sometimes during lunch it gets busy but nothing insane. They give you chips to snack on. As far as heartburn it's a Mexican place, if I had a quarter for every time I got heartburn after spicy food I'd be a millionaire.

I like Estelas. The food is good, and so is the service. I've been here a couple times, as well as the other locations in South Tampa, and on Davis Island. All of their locations are consistent.

I was smart enough to go once. My husband told me he went again, to make sure we weren't wrong the first time!!! For the record, service can be bad the first time, you ordered something that didn't suit you the first time, or the place was on fire the first time, but those are the only reasons there should be a second time! The food was bland, and put together like Mexican with gravy. I don't know if it's because we came from a region that makes good Mexican, but this was not it. The service was fine, the place after moving is cute but that does not make good food. I will not go for the second time as my husband did, but as he realized, it didn't get any better!!!! For those who do not know good Mexican, good luck, but don't bother with a Margarita, they taste like syrup water sans alcohol!!!!

The food here is DISGUSTING!!!!!!!! One star because Yelp wouldn't let me give it negative stars. I ordered ceviche. Ceviche is shrimp with FRESH veggies, lime, lemon, and orange juice. They put ketchup in it. I'm not kidding. I told the waiter it tastes like shrimp n ketchup. He assured me that it indeed was ketchup. GROSS!!!!!! Fajitas were repulsive. Couldn't chew the meat. STAY FAR AWAY!!!!!!! Do not read any other reviews. This is the only one you need.

Meal was disappointing. Margarita tasted like overly sweet syrup with no alcohol in it. Had to order a shot to add to it to make it barely passable. Service was disappointing. Could not get water until we asked twice. Meal was not correct and our waitress did not rectify. We asked for a tortilla and was told we could order 3. After all that occurred and we couldn't just be given a tortilla.

Was very disappointed with this place. We love Mexican food and decided to try this place out on our way home from the rec center. Well we paid for our drinks and left! When we went to place the order we asked for a traditional taco (corn shell, grilled chicken, cilantro, onion and cheese) we were told they cannot do that. So when we tried to order a regular taco they wanted to charge us $2.00 per side plus the taco price. I would have paid over $6.00 per taco! I have been to a ton of Mexican eateries and not once have I seen this. The wait stuff was rude and she was mad because we didn't order. Their shirts say public bathrooms but yet the bathrooms were closed? I would not recommend this place to anyone.

WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Every time we come here, which used to be quite often, they either ignore us, or give us no attention. Wait staff is rude. I do not recommend this to anyone. Food is pretty good though.. Just not worth waiting with no service for it.

Sat down to a great dinner for just about free. I did surveys on line and got vouchers from Restaurants.com , that's how. My waitress brought over hot tortilla chips and nicely chilled salsa. It had a little kick to it. I had the Mexican Enchiladas with pork and peppers on top and Mexican rice. It came with avocado salad too! Dessert was bananas fried in dough and ice cream! This is the best Mexican I've had in FL! It comes close to being as good as the ones in Asbury Park, NJ!!!!

Just stopped in today and was really surprised at just how good the food was! Salsa w/ chips was just right and the Taco's are the best around "hands down and had that fresh authentic taste. The menu covers all the normal favs and the specials were very reasonable. Layla at the bar was really friendly too. I'm definitely going to make this a regular place to eat.

Good food. Good service. Drove out of our way to eat here. Had a Restaurant.com certificate, which reduced the price. Hint: don't order extras for each taco. Ask for them on the side. You'll save money. The Mexican music is a little loud, but we like this place and will be back.

I went to this place once with my boo and I loved the food more than her. OMG the Mexican egg rolls won my heart they were so good.. The tacos were off the chain and made to perfection.

The food was delicious! Will be back for some good mexican food! The jalapeño cheese dip was amazing!

DON'T eat here!!!! Service is terrible, food caused heartburn and diarrhea to all in our party and prices are high for "Mexican" food. I repeat, DO NOT eat here!!!

This is pretty good Mexican food...in New Port Richey! Okay, so typical Mexican food with good flavors and style...you get a decent helping for the cost too. I like the patio out back....needs to be cleaned a little, but it is nice space.

Lunch here on June 19th was a pleasant surprise. We've been here in the past when it was a different restaurant. We were not disappointed yesterday. I chose the chicken fajitas and they were very tasty. Hubby ordered the pork carnitas and couldn't believe the size of the portion. He was also very happy with the taste and tenderness of the pork. We each had sides of rice, retired beans and a small salad. Much more than we could eat in one sitting. Everything was quite tasty. The chips and salsa arrived almost before sitting down, but it took awhile for refills of my water, and the check. If you are in a hurry, ask for everything at once, if you can.

The atmosphere is great, not a crammed place, very spacious. My boyfriend and I got the house margaritas which were delicious. The complimentary chips and salsa are also delicious,I ordered guacamole, the best I've ever had. My boyfriend is a connoisseur of chicken wings, so he of course got those and loved them. For dinner I ordered one of the special shrimp burrito dishes, to die for, while my boyfriend got the tortilla crusted tilapia. The plates are huge and filled. Hazel was our server, she was great, very awesome personality.

  • Robyn E.

This is our go to Mexican fix! The food is always fresh and hot. The atmosphere is nice. The service makes you feel like you're right at home! We tried other Mexican restaurants in the area, and none can compare. Now we won't go anywhere else.

We have been going here since they opened on main street. We eat a lot of Mexican food usually the food is great and service is good. HOWEVER... the last three times we have been there the food isn't as good. I am very disappointed. Please tell me how a Mexican restaurant can have NO RICE! At 5:30 in the evening. The service was terrible, waited for a waitress for about 10 mins after we say down. The chilie reno was cold, and was told by the waitress that's because they don't like to make it to hot because it will melt the cheese. Hello isn't that the point. The French fries were cold ( had to have French fries cause there was no rice) the beans were watery. The waitress was very rude. We will be looking for a new Mexican place to eat. Very very disappointed!!

Been here twice trying so hard to like it but no luck - why??? First, they have a "house" margarita however it is not even on the menu, it actually is good, you just don't know about it. Next, the cheese in the enchiladas tasted odd so inquired, told it was American cheese, while stunned repeated, "American Cheese!" Then the waiter (owner) said, "Well, it is Mexican American cheese", I kid you not. He continued defending the plate "no one complains about it" "the chefs are Mexican" "people love it!", and "where are you from?" Sorry, but no excuse for American cheese - this is a no brainer. Salsa is pureed with no chunks of anything, chips nice and thin as well as very fresh, though rice bland and overcooked . I'm from up north, total foody and grew up here, therefore I'm not some tourist either or being unrealistic. If you've not traveled or had the opportunity of "real" Mexican food then your comments are moot here bc of experience. The reviews here are deceivingly inaccurate, note people say, "for FL" and feel many of these are manufactured not actual patrons. Only Margarita and chip worthy.

My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for awhile now. We decided to give this a try on our date day. We both ordered the Chimichangas. I was so impressed with the flavor of the chicken and the amount of steak that was piled into the tortilla. Holy cow! Even the sweet tea is awesome! We have a new Mexican restaurant favorite. We will be back again very soon.

A group of 5 of us arrived at about 630 on a Tuesday night. They only had 2 servers and the restaurant was busy. The 2 servers were seating customers, waiting tables, bar tending, and busing the tables too. We waited 40 minutes for a table, not because they were on a 40 minute wait, but because they didn't have enough staff to clean the dirty tables to seat us. Once we were seated, it took an hour and 20 minutes to order, eat and get our bill. If the food wasn't good I would have given them one stat. A porly managed restaurant.

    (3)

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is consistently good, and you couldn't ask for a better location. The wait staff is awesome, too. I'm getting hungry just thinking about Estela's!

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. I love their Lunch specials you can't beat them. If you never tried it I would try the pork burrito it was very yummy. Sadly, I've moved to Dunedin and haven't found a replacement yet. If I want Mexican I go here. The prices are also very reasonable plus the service is usually pretty good. I recommend this place to anyone.

Probably dined here 10 times, and every time the food has been very good. The wait staff has always been friendly and quick (Hazel is a riot). Personal favorites are the chilies poblano and shrimp fundido. Pricing is very reasonable and their is rarely a wait.

    (4)
  • Janet Q.

Any time I go to a new Mexican place, I'm weary so my safe choice is always enchiladas. If they can't get that right then more than likely I'm not going back. With that said the enchiladas here weren't bad but could of been better. I think American cheese was used, not a fan and the sauce was a bit bland. Beans were pretty decent. Rice lacked the tomato sauce flavor. The chips and salsa however were delish and the staff although very busy seemed friendly.

Told me on the phone they did not take reservations. We made a special trip to this restaurant and waited 45 min in the elevator sized lobby with 2 kids only to watch them seat 7 other parties who came after we arrived. Hostess was very unorganized and missing in action. We watched several diners come get their own napkins, boxes, & menus. We asked a few times to be sure we were on the list and eventually left. I will NEVER try this place again.!

Estela's is our new favorite place to eat. The food is sooo good and the wait staff is very friendly and courteous. We have been 3 times so far and have tried different menu items each time and they have all been excellent. We can't wait to go back again. This is the best Mexican food around and we are hooked on the light and crunchy tortilla chips and last visit I tried the Chile Relleno - it was a 10 on the yummy scale. As you can see, we highly recommend Estela's.

    (5)
  • Nathan A.

Great food, excellent margaritas and enormous portions! I eat a lot and I still had to take half of the Estela's Especial home. Oh, and great home made hot sauce (different from their salsa). Be sure to ask for it separately.

Great food, excellent margaritas and enormous portions! I eat a lot and I still had to take half of the Estela's Especial home. Oh, and great home made hot sauce (different from their salsa). Be sure to ask for it separately.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
